BLENHEIM HOUSE
Designed by Don Jamieson Architecture, this 3 bedroom modern home makes the most of the Marlborough sun.
The allied super slab concrete floor provides a well insulated alternative to conventional methods. With the floor predominantly tiled this system is ideal for providing better shrinkage control in the slab itself.
One of the main features of the house is the precast polished concrete Trombe wall to the North face providing a passive heating to the house. The wall being craned into place and propped prior to the pouring of the floor. The sun is also used for heating of the houses hot water cylinder.
The core of the house is mainly of timber construction with 2 poured concrete block walls in the centre. Lvl joists were used to form the skillion roof structure, which is well insulated and covered in Zinculume 5 rib.
Concrete block veneer is the main exterior cladding with areas of cedar weather board.
Macrocarpa is used for the veranda posts and sun louvers.
